Melt the butter and stir in the sugar until it has dissolved then stir in the honey or golden syrup. Add the dry ingredients and mix quickly so that all the oats are coated. Press into a shallow baking tray (about 9" by 5") and bake for 15 minutes at 180C. Remove and leave for a few minutes before turning out onto a chopping board. Cut into rectangles with a sharp knife and leave to cool.
